Background

Solmar Villas is a family run business, based in the West Midlands, with over 23 years of experience in arranging high quality, tailor made villa holidays in mainland Spain as well as the Balearics and Canary Islands. Properties range from traditional style houses offering peace and privacy in the countryside to luxury villas with pools and breath-taking coastal views.

Task

As part of its ongoing online marketing strategy, Solmar Villas asked M3 to explore new ways of utilising social media and interacting with its Facebook followers - the aim being to capture quality data for future marketing of offers on specific villas.

Response

M3 built and hosted a ‘Spot the Difference’ game that gave Facebook and Twitter followers a chance to win a holiday at a featured Solmar villa. Players were asked to study two images of the villa and identify 10 subtle differences. To add excitement, the game was set against a 3-minute countdown clock with time penalties for each incorrect spot. On completion of the game, participants were required to submit their details in order to enter the prize draw. They were also encouraged to play again or share the game with friends. Following the introduction of the game, Solmar Villas enjoyed a significant increase in the number of Facebook and Twitter likes and followers, while obtaining relevant and valuable prospect data.
